The Premier League is back with a full slate of exciting midweek fixtures for fans to sink their teeth into over the course of the next few days. As we enter the month of April, it’s clear to see that we’re getting into the nitty-gritty of the campaign with teams at both ends of the table still having a lot left to fight for. Today, we’ll take a look at the upcoming clash between Liverpool and Sheffield United.
Liverpool Form GuideLiverpool are coming off the back of a big League Cup win and while they should be allowed to take time to celebrate that, they’ll also want to keep their eyes on the future. With this being Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, they need to do everything in their power to help send him out on top - and if they play their cards right, that could mean winning the treble.
Outside of being knocked out of the FA Cup by rivals Manchester United, Liverpool can feel pretty happy about their recent form. They drew 1-1 with champions Manchester City and secured wins over Sparta Prague, Nottingham Forest and most recently Brighton.
Sheffield United Form GuideSheffield United fans know that they are the favourites for the drop and in a lot of ways, it feels like they don’t have much to lose because of that. Chris Wilder will do everything in his power to keep them in the top flight but they need a big shift in momentum in the next couple of months. Whether or not they can make that change, though, remains to be seen, and it seems unlikely.
Following a 3-1 win over Luton, the Blades have slipped back into the kind of form that we’re used to seeing from them this season. They lost to Brighton, Wolves and Arsenal prior to a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth and a 3-3 draw with Fulham.
Match PredictionTo put it bluntly, this could get ugly in a hurry if Sheffield United aren’t careful. They are as good as gone in the Premier League and they’re really just marking time until relegation is confirmed. With that in mind, we’re going to predict a Liverpool win, and we think it’s going to be pretty emphatic.
