Minus the FA Cup semi final they played against Manchester United, the past few weeks have been a disaster for Coventry City. They've dropped out of the playoffs and will be looking to end on a high when they welcome QPR on Saturday. The away side secured Championship status last weekend with a huge 4-0 win over promotion chasing Leeds, the pressure is off and they've done it with a game to spare.
Coventry Form GuideIt's been a tough end for Coventry, I've been saying for a while that I believe they've been distracted by the semi final, and would have gone close in their playoff bid without it. Just one point from their last five games is not good enough though, even if you use the FA Cup semi final as an excuse, and they'll want to come here and put in one good last performance for the fans.
A loss in midweek came to Ipswich, who are challenging for promotion, before that, Coventry drew 0-0 away from home against Blackburn Rovers. That wasn't a great result, but they did play the final half an hour with 10 men. Hull, Birmingham and Southampton have all beaten Coventry recently.
QPR Form GuideIt was a magical night at Loftus Road last Friday, a huge win for the team and with it, the security of playing in the Championship next season. It gives QPR something to build off in the summer, they've seen progress, if only small progress, and need to keep that going. They handled the pressure well that night, much better than Leeds, but get to play without pressure here.
Before that 4-0 success over Leeds, QPR won 1-0 at home to Preston, giving them six points, five goals and two clean sheets in their last two games, at a time when the players needed to stand up and deliver. This is a free hit to end the season in style, away at a side who are not playing well.
Match PredictionI am going to side with Coventry to win this one. The elevation of pressure will do them good, and after a bad run, on the back of an FA Cup semi final, I think they'll feel like they owe their supporters a performance, and can give them one.
