In the early hours of Wednesday, Group D of the Copa America concludes, as Brazil and Colombia clash in Santa Clara.
BrazilAfter a goalless draw against Costa Rica in their group opener, Brazil recorded a 4-1 victory over Paraguay to get their tournament back on track.
The victory was inspired by a brace by Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior and means that the Selecao are unbeaten in their previous six international matches, having recorded three wins and three draws in the run.
Despite being one of the favourites to win the Copa, Dorival Junior’s team are only second in the group, with Wednesday’s opponents currently sitting top of the group standings.
Brazil has a strong recent record in Copa America, having recorded eight wins in their last 11 matches while suffering just one defeat in the process.
The Selecao have certainly had the better of the head-to-head meetings against Colombia, winning 21 of the 36 meetings while losing on just four occasions.
ColombiaLos Cafeteros have enjoyed a strong Copa America campaign. They opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Paraguay before a 3-1 defeat of Costa Rica last time out.
The latter result means that Colombia are unbeaten in 25 international games, having recorded ten straight victories. The key to their recent wins has been their attacking prowess, as they have scored at least two goals in their last five matches.
Nestor Lorenzo’s team is already through the knockout stages. However, a point or more would be enough to see them also win the group.
Colombia have been difficult to beat of late in the Copa America, as they are unbeaten over 90 minutes in five games in the competition.
What am I backing?This game could go either way, as Colombia has the momentum, but Brazil has some true quality in its team. I believe this will be a highly-scoring encounter, though, so the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored.
