We’ve reached the FA Cup fifth round and this is where the remaining sixteen clubs can really start to dream about a place at Wembley. There are drastically different teams left in the competition and with so much on the line, we’re excited to see how these eight games play out. Today, we’ll be taking a look at one of the most interesting matches of the round as Bournemouth play host to Leicester City.
Bournemouth Form GuideIn the space of just a few months, Bournemouth have gone from one of the favourites for relegation to a team that looks pretty comfortable. They are midtable in the Premier League right now and although they aren’t out of the woods when it comes to avoiding the drop, the Cherries should certainly be feeling good about their prospects - especially in the cup.
Bournemouth had to work hard to get through their first test in this season’s FA Cup as they came from behind to defeat QPR 3-2. In their meeting with Swansea, though, things were a bit more straightforward, as they raced out to a dominant 5-0 triumph over the boys from Wales.
Leicester Form GuideLeicester City may have experienced relegation back to the Championship last season, but they’ve bounced back as well as they possibly could as they are favourites for the title and promotion. Of course, there’s still a long way to go, but there are plenty of reasons for them to feel confident, and a potential run in the competition they won in 2021 won’t hurt either.
Leicester had to scratch and claw in their third round encounter with Millwall but in the end, they made the most of their opportunity, winning 3-2. Then, at home to Birmingham, they looked far more comfortable as they cruised to a 3-0 win to book their place in the fifth round.
Match PredictionBournemouth are a tough side to face away from home and yet, while we do believe they should be viewed as the favourites, the Foxes are the ones who are having a really successful season - albeit in the league below. Our prediction is going to be a somewhat surprising Leicester win.
