Gambling Self-Assessment Test

The self-assessment test is an easy-to-use, responsible gambling tool you will find when using almost any modern iGaming operator. By answering several questions, you can get an idea of whether you have any gambling-related issues. Even though the tests will be slightly different, they almost always contain Yes and No questions.

After answering all questions, the operator will check your answers and give you a result. It’s true that every test is different, but in the end, you will learn about your gambling behaviour. The fact that you got a “positive” result doesn’t always mean you have gambling-related issues, but it’s something to think about.

The Test Itself

After checking all the gambling operators offering the self-assessment test, we have gathered some of the most popular questions. There will be differences depending on the site you choose, but in most cases, you will find the following questions:

  1. Do you feel guilty about the amount of money you spend on gambling?
  2. Do you think you need to wager more money to get the same thrill you do when betting with smaller amounts?
  3. If you lose, do you find it hard to stop betting?
  4. Are your gambling habits causing financial problems in your family?
  5. Is gambling negatively affecting your relationships and work?
  6. Does gambling lead to health problems, including anxiety and stress?
  7. Do you feel more nervous if you don’t gamble?
  8. Have you ever had a period of at least 2 weeks where you spend a lot of time thinking about how to find money to bet?
  9. Have there been periods where you felt the need to place ever-larger bets in order to feel the excitement?
  10. Have you lied about how much money you’ve spent on gambling?
  11. Have you resorted to lying about your gambling habits three or more times?
  12. Do you borrow money or even steal to gamble?
  13. Are you depressed after losing?
  14. Do you want to keep playing after a loss until you regain what you have lost?
  15. Have you lost your interest in other hobbies besides gambling?
  16. Do you feel like you may have a problem with gambling?
  17. Have you ever tried to stop gambling or at least not gamble every day?
  18. When you tried to stop or control your gambling, did you feel restless or irritable?
  19. Have you ever tried to stop or reduce your gambling activities without success?
  20. Have you tried to control your gambling habits three or more times without success?
  21. Have you resorted to gambling to relieve unpleasant feelings such as guilt and anxiety?
  22. Have you gambled just because you have issues in other areas of life?
  23. Have you resorted to gambling to relieve unpleasant feelings such as guilt and anxiety?
  24. Have your gambling habits caused you problems at work, inability to perform or lack of career advancement?

Answer each question with “Yes” or “No”. Depending on the number of positive answers, you can determine the outcome:

  • 0: you don’t answer to the problem levels of gambling
  • 1-2: your results are still good, as they don’t cause a high risk of participating in gambling
  • 3-4: your results are moderate, and the risk of developing a gambling addiction is not low
  • 5 or more: your results show that you may develop an addiction to gambling, and it is recommended to seek help

As mentioned, there are countless other questions you will come across, and all of them should have a Yes/No answer. Once you answer all of them, you will receive a score based on your answers. All sites have a different scale that determines if you have any gambling problems.

Where Can You Find the Self-assessment Gambling Test?

Although gambling websites are different, most of them will place the self-assessment test in their Responsible Gambling section. If there is no separate section for responsible gambling, the test should be included in the Terms and Conditions of the site or in the links listed in the footer.

Are the Self-assessment Tests for Online Gambling Accurate?

Yes and no. It really depends on the test itself, but we firmly believe that it should not be the only criteria you use to decide if you have gambling problems. With that said, these tests can help you by showing you that something is not right. Once you have this information, you can decide what to do.

Other Responsible Gambling Tools

After completing the self-assessment test, you should check whether your gambling site offers any other responsible gambling features. There are a lot of options that you can come across, such as:
