Denmark opened their account with a 1-1 draw against Slovenia. The Danes broke the deadlock inside 17 minutes when Christian Eriksen marked his comeback with an impressive strike. They were expected to build from there, scoring a second goal and taking control of the game, but their opponents had other ideas. Slovenia equalised with 77 minutes on the clock thanks to a goal from Erik Janza.

Denmark came through with a clean bill of health, and we expect to see the same team in game two. Continuity is the key for the Danes here, and they’ll be looking to build on the good work they achieved on matchday one, especially in the first half. Getting the first goal would help, but Denmark knows a strong defence will provide the foundation to challenge.

England Team News

England started Euro 2024 as the competition’s betting favourites to win, and they lived up to expectations. Gareth Southgate’s team played Slovakia on Sunday evening and raced into the lead when Jude Bellingham scored inside 13 minutes. It was a dream start, and fans expected a few more goals, but England had to hang on for the three points.

Harry Kane should push hard for the top scorer award in Germany. He thought he had his first goal on Sunday but saw an effort from a close-range cannon off the crossbar. The Bayern Munich attacker is after a goal and will lead the line in a team that shouldn’t differ too much from the opening game. Southgate has a strong squad, but he’s looking to build momentum.

Denmark vs England H2H Record and Key Numbers

The international football history books show Denmark and England have played 24 times previously. The head-to-head stats show England has 14 wins against five for the Danes and five games ending in a draw.

The most recent clash was in the previous Euros – played in the summer of 2021 – when England battled to a 2-1 victory. That game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Kane scoring the winning goal in extra time and 104 minutes showing on the clock. Another competitive renewal is expected, but will it be a repeat performance, or will Denmark get its revenge?

My Prediction

Denmark showed their quality for large periods of their first game before conceding an equaliser. England also got their noses in front early before protecting their lead, and they should’ve had two goals when Kane hit the bar. I expect another competitive contest and will predict a narrow win for England and take a small play on the 2-1 correct score.
