The Champions League has always been the most interesting European football competition, and the matches that took place on September 7 prove it. Soccer fans worldwide had the chance to watch 8 games, some of which will go down in history.

According to the information from www.jaxkidsdirectory.com, the highlight of the day was Napoli’s victory against English powerhouse Liverpool after scoring 4 goals. Of course, there were many other games that were fun to watch, so here is a quick recap of what happened.

Ajax and Napoli had an amazing start in Group A

Napoli achieved one of its most impressive victories in the last couple of years, starting with the elephant in the room. Despite being the underdog, Luciano Spalleti’s squad was on another level and dominated throughout the game. “It all started with a penalty in the first couple of minutes, and everything went downhill after that”, said Nostrabet’s football analyst. “Liverpool were unable to bounce back in the match and conceded two more goals in the first half alone”.

The other match in the group was as interesting as this one because it featured Rangers. The team is finally back after a long absence, but it didn’t have the best start after losing 4:0 to Ajax. Alfred Schreuder and his players were excellent and won a very important match prior to facing the group’s favourites.

Atletico defeats Porto after scoring two goals, Leverkusen loses its opening match in Group B

Although most eyes were set on Napoli and Liverpool, Group B had two matches that were worth watching. Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid achieved a significant 2:1 victory against Porto, one of the favourites in the group.

Atletico Madrid’s victory was not that surprising, but Bayer Leverkusen’s loss was. The German powerhouse did not live up to its fans’ expectations and lots the opening match versus Club Brugge. This puts them in a difficult position because the club is yet to face the big names in the group.

Barcelona scored 5 goals against Viktoria Plzen, and Bayern Defeated Inter in Group C

It is safe to say that this is the “group of death” because it features three of the big favourites to win the Champions League. Speaking of favourites, Barcelona had a flying start against the underdog in the group after scoring five goals. What’s even more impressive is that the team’s latest transfer Robert Lewandowski scored three of them.

Although Barcelona and Viktoria Plzen gave their fans six goals, the match between Inter and Bayern Munich was the one that people were interested in. These two behemoths tried their best, but in the end, Bayern was victorious.

In the press conference following the match, Simone Inzaghi (Inter’s coach) said that the team brought more pressure in the second half and had a few opportunities to score. Furthermore, Inzaghi praised Bayern, calling them among the best three in Europe.

Tottenham scores 2, and Sporting secures a clean 0-3 victory in Group D

Following Rocharlison’s first two goals for his club, Tottenham marked their return to the CL after defeating Marseille this Wednesday.

Spurs had a slow start to the game, but the red card for Chancel Mbemba allowed them to take control of the game. Following numerous missed opportunities, Tottenham eventually scored two goals in the second half and won their first match.

Speaking of winnings, Sporting CP had no problems against Eintracht Frankfurt, despite playing in Germany. The first half between the two was relatively calm, but three quick goals from M. Edwards, Trincao, and N. Santos gave Sporting the victory.
